Foreword: New Friday Anniversary Thoughts

A question emerged as I pondered our “Downtown Church” identity. Since, as we’ve discovered, communities even from afar have converged here to worship and serve together, how, in turn, has St. Stephen’s engaged with, contributed to broader worlds? 

Under this new lens, our many online posts since we re-emerged with a new mission in 2017 yielded new insights. I was moved by the variety of engagements over time, some with the performing arts, others acts of transcendent humanity in social upheaval. How do they resonate in our evolving moment? 

Since we’re celebrating throughout 2023 as a mindful move forward, I’ll explore finds as continuing monthly “Anniversary Thoughts” on Fridays, probably in dialogue with a linked earlier post. The first will appear next Friday, March 24.
