La Bernardinia Baroque Ensemble explores works for recorder and viola da gamba alone, in duet, or with obbligato harpsichord accompaniment by the great German masters G.Ph. Telemann and J.S. Bach.
About La Bernardinia Baroque Ensemble:
As part of Philadelphia's vibrant early music scene, La Bernardinia Baroque Ensemble specializes in chamber music from 1600-1750 presenting engaging programs of repertory from France, Germany, Italy, and England. Performing on copies of period instruments, the core ensemble consists of Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Donna Fournier, viola da gamba; and Marcia Kravis, harpsichord and organ. Guest musicians are often invited to join the ensemble in their exploration of the extensive and varied repertoire of baroque chamber music. During the 2017-18 concert season, the ensemble is joined by Heather Miller Lardin and Rebecca Humphrey, violas da gamba. The group's name refers to the title of a piece by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi that La Bernardinia performed on their debut program. Source: http://www.bernardinia.org
